I gotta tell you this year’s Bartender’s Ball at the Blake is a win. I gathered a few girlfriends and made it there around 8:30. Approaching the entrance, two guys forewarned us, “don’t go back there, there’s too much fun going on.” That’s exactly what we needed to hear to get the party started. Having walked upstairs, we spotted hundreds of partygoers decked out in cocktail attire listening to the liveliest mix on the 1s and 2s. And the people … nothing but smiles. What else can you expect at an open bar party?!
Though there weren’t a long range of creative and elaborate cocktails at every stop (as in previous years), there were still top-notch cocktails being poured. (Um yeah where were the Palomas?)
First stop was a bar to the left, they were making red bull and vodkas all night with Stoli Wild Cherry. It wasn’t good at all.
But from an oblivious to the quite obvious–Mez served Grey Goose all night. You should’ve seen them all dressed up in a corner location and standing out in big ‘smancy’ showbiz lights. Of course the venue wouldn’t let their reputation falter by serving cheap liquor. THANK YOU! They lived up to their name and customer service. Needless to say, that’s where the SHOTS began. Oh and their martinis were also nothing to sneeze at …
On to the next … we ventured over to Fox and Hound where the sweetest bartenders hung out and poured some chilly margaritas. They handed out souvenir glasses and decorative straws, so those margs practically advertised themselves … leading everyone that I passed to inquire about their location aside VIP … then it was time for some food!
I never know what to expect when it comes to BB food. You don’t know if it’s going to be meatballs, pasta, BBQ, or sandwiches. Last night, it was all of the above. I didn’t eat a thing.
Though I had a VIP badge, I didn’t venture to that sectioned off party. All the MVPs were out on the dancefloor, between the two ballrooms. This event attracted a mix crowd (diverse) and a bunch of yuppies. So it’s great for business and meeting new people. Overall, my party of five enjoyed the celebration, people and good music. They definitely agreed to come out next year. The BB should definitely become a part of your Partygoer Roster if it isn’t already. And if you missed it, I’m so sorry for you … better planning next time!
