Serial Dater: Actual Pull-quotes from Dates

Below are actual pull-quotes stated by men … during recent dates. Lol. Comedy or tragedy? You be the judge. However, I must say I appreciated their efforts to make me smile or laugh. Enjoy.

Quote 1

“Sexy, intelligent dark chocolate femininity wrapped in a red carpet-ready dress of elegance.”

The above is my all-time favorite one. Just the “dark chocolate” portion is hot! You know dark chocolate is good for your health? I’m just saying. Good use of adjectives.

Quote 2
“Oh you’re a writer? I used to write Haiku poems back in da day. What’s that 5 stanzas?”

He tried. A Haiku poem has three lines. First line comprised of 5 syllables. Second line has 7. Last line has five syllables as the first.

Whether they’re trying to impress you or cuff you, there isn’t much men won’t say … Or do!! :) And even though, we, women, might find their sayings and philosophies silly, I’m sure we can agree that their sincerity is part endearing.

No More “Med School” for BET The Game

Yesterday, Tia “Melanie/Med School” Mowry tweeted that she would not return to BET’s The Game for Season 6. Reportedly, Pooch “Derwin Davis” Hall will not as well. Both are said to have other projects underway; and there was no reason provided for their leaving.

So with the main characters leaving, who will become the focus? The acting was at its prime Season 1 – 3!

And the current storyline has lost its media buzz and fails hook a loyal audience.

Hmmm … This stinks of bad direction as in “Let’s speak to the directors,” because BET The Game either needs to be saved by better by production or canceled for Season 6.

You can catch the best seasons on Netflix. Just a FYI!

Rihanna’s IV Twitpic: Get Well Soon

Recently, Rihanna posted a twitpic of herself hooked up to an IV. This picture ensued after numerous fans inquired about minimal texts earlier this week. The songstress was said to have suffered from exhaustion, having partied at the Met Ball on Monday. Here’s her twitpic!

Butter–Saturday Night

(left to right) Denise Gregory (myself) and Joanna Martinez

Another fun night documented. Big shout out to Appstate Football Alumni and guests who showed us a good time in VIP (of course).

My Top 3 on Netflix

1. Flashpoint–A Strategic Response Team responds to a host of situations where desperate individuals take matters into their own hands. Which one’s the target? A corrupt politician or a kidnapped hostage held against her own will for 8 years? You have to watch and see. My favorite episode is the one where the father fights for his daughter’s heart, literally. (Action. Guns. Police)

2. The Chicago Code–I smell a sleazy politician who has turned Chicago into his personal playground. Watch to see if he’s caught or not by Chicago’s first female Lieutenant. (Action. Corruption. Police)

3. Archer–This adult cartoon delivers satire, punchlines, and more, back to back. Ladies’ man Archer has trouble dealing with his boss who is also his controlling mother. These are adult situations and adult content. Not for children (under the age of 18) in my opinion. Good writing. (Cartoon. Adult. Explicit Content)

Beauty Tastes So Good at Pamper Parlor: A Fashion Forward Update!

How Fabulous!! I was invited to the Pamper Parlor, hosted by Flawless Make Up Art’s Joy Randall and Jameka Whitten (JSW Media). All of what and WHO are fashionably forward and trendy are in attendance here, at the Residences of Southpark. The ambiance is superb as I’m surrounded with a bird’s eye veiw of shopping frenzies who are in search of good deals, good conversation, and a glimpse of upcoming seasonal trends, powered by Charlotte’s Style Week.

Furthermore, as serendipity will call it to be, Attorney/Writer C.M. Whitener sat next to me as I wrote this blog … another beautiful sister who is brainy and whose knowledge and style seems to come out in her curly natural hair. She’s pretty dope too. I enjoyed her energy and substance. You may check out her site: http://www.yourboyfriendsbestgirlfriend.com.

Stephanie Glover of Meet the Fresh is here sporting her “Virtuous Woman in Training” t-shirt designed by T.Strong “The Style Mavin.” A pretty, pink baby tee with Proverbs 31 listed just below the logo.

Welp, that’s all for now, I must go schmooze with the good people of Charlotte and sample Ezikiel Cheney’s Walnut & Cranberry salad. I hear it’s tasty and healthy! :)

“Don’t miss the next Pamper Parlor … a deliciously well-dressed event”

My "AFTER" Shot thanks to "Pamper Parlor"!

In the picture above, I sampled the following products at the Pamper Parlor. Just enough pop for a Sunday afternoon.

Being one who is interested in fashion, stopping by Milan was essential during my time in Italy. This Italian city is unique because it is more modern than historical. The reason for this is because Milan rests at the border of Italy, which made it susceptible to bombings and attacks during World War II. Although stripped of many historical landmarks and monuments, the city has now been reconstructed as the…

Today is Vancouver’s first official Macaron day! This annual date first started out in Paris (of course), and it is a day when bakeries offer macarons in return for donations to good causes. To support this occasion, today I went to French Made Baking, a small but authentic French bakery in East Vancouver. They handed out a free macaron…

I love French bakes--creme brûlée, brioche (chocolat) and du pain are a few favorites. On Charlotte NC we have Amelie's, a French bakery that stays open late. Thanks for sharing. Definitely reblog worthy!! Later

“Beez in the Trap” Review–This be Nicki Lewinsky

For Charlamagne the God to really dig this track as he so tweeted yesterday, I was expecting more from my favorite female rapper–Minaj. Yet the delivery was less than her superbomb usual.

Unlike “Starships,” “Beez in the Trap” is directed for hip hop heads, laced with a nursery rhyme hook that’s simple enough for all the basic folk to get it and rock it … On time!

The first stanza she definitely stands as “The Female Weezy” as she tells that wack chick to “buss it open” or she’ll cut a U-ey (u-turn). Outta control. A bi turn to prove this point, Nicki nails it here.

However, this track lacks smooth transition from line-to-line, metaphors, and a chic’ER hook. Not so much Barbie here. I’d say this is her “Nicki Lewinsky” character she promoted as mixtape, unsigned Nicki.

Though no female rapper can top my Nicki right now, I’m still not giving her a pass for this one. This track lacks lyrical content. And that’s that! Friends are honest with friends.

“A hundred #%*€><^^~ can't tell me nothin.”

And whatever happened to 2 Chainz’ twang accent? There’s a difference in his voice between this track and “Spend It.” You be the judge. Tell me your thoughts.

PS See you at Howl at the Moon, Friday. Party starts at 5.

NFL Free Agency, Great Beginnings

Free agency for the NFL has started and the deals have started flying on the first day. A great deal of teams took advantage of free agency to make some major improvements to their perspective teams. Some moves were expected but no one could have foretold the final outcome after the dust settled.

Will we see good or bad Moss in San Francisco this upcoming NFL season?

To start off NFL Free Agency, Randy Moss was quick to find a new home. I had expected Moss to sign with the New Orleans Saints when the reports of an impressive workout surfaced and I considered how wonderful it would be for him to be paired with Drew Brees. Instead, Moss will be the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers. Moss only signed a one year deal but it could be all that he needs to reach the Super Bowl if the 49ers can pull together a run like the last NFL season.

Unfortunately, two problems may stop Randy Moss’s “Road to Glory”. The first problem is no one knows if Moss is motivated enough to actually play to his full potential. Moss has a tendency to play when he is motivated and take plays off when he does not think it is worth the effort. The second issue is Alex Smith is still the San Francisco 49ers quarterback. I like the way Alex Smith played last year but let’s be honest, Smith is no Tom Brady. In additon, Randy Moss depending on Alex Smith to get him the ball does not make me very excited. I am foreseeing another down year for Moss unless Alex Smith can find his inner Peyton Manning. Moss can make a quarterback look much better than he is; Alex Smith is just a very average quarterback.

Brandon Marshall and Jay Cutler are “Reunited and it feels so good!”

An unexpected move that happened today was that Brandon Marshall was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Chicago Bears. The trade reunites Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall. The Miami Dolphins received two third round picks and the Chicago Bears receive the go-to receiver they have been looking for. With Cutler playing much better as of late, Matt Forte running the ball and receiving out of the backfield, and Brandon Marshall hauling in receptions, Chicago should have a good chance to go far in the playoffs. Of course this relies on the fact that none of the Chicago Bears key players become injured and every player can stay out of off-the-field trouble.

Vincent Jackson not a San Diego Charger anymore??

Another player made some waves today by leaving his previous team for greener pastures is Vincent Jackson. Vincent Jackson has been a recipient of most of Phillip Rivers passes besides Antonio Gates over the last seven years. Vincent Jackson has signed a 5-year contract for 55.5 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This means that Jackson will be the primary receiving threat for Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback, Josh Freeman. I truly do not know what to make of Josh Freeman, because Freeman has never had a real number one receiver to go to. Jackson could be the catalyst to take Freeman’s passing attack to the next level. On the flip side, Vincent Jackson could expose Josh Freeman as just an average quarterback. Whichever outcome happens, one thing we can be sure of is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not afraid to make some major moves this free agency season.

Calvin Johnson signed one of, if not the biggest deal of this off-season

Lastly, how can we talk about free agency and not mention the biggest deal? Calvin Johnson aka Megatron managed to ink a mega deal. The Detroit Lions signed Calvin Johnson to a 132 million, 8-year deal. The deal includes 60 million dollars guaranteed which trumps the Larry Fitzgerald deal which had 50 million guaranteed. Johnson is clearly the best receiver in the league and worth every penny of the deal. No other receiver in the league even comes close to Johnson’s production of almost 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. Calvin Johnson is simply the best at his position.

Free agency has just begun and more deals are sure to come, especially as the NFL Draft looms closer. Like every season we will have some free agency winners and losers. A great deal of the time all it takes is the right player in the right season to change a team’s fortune. May the right and wrong free agency moves begin…

China, Blended Not Stirred–Early Morning Vision

A Blizzard to get me slizzard!!!

You know China has got to me on my places to move list. Now some of my friends who’ve been says it overcrowded and that the streets are trashed. Sounds like my other favorite place–New York City.

And when you look on the upside, New York City has a world-influential fashion industry, Wall Street, Chinatown, the Meat Packing District, and Soho! Now to tell you each place’s significance just seems redundant. You already know.

China has got to have some of the same qualities plus the Great Wall. How can one beat that?

And just yesterday, I learned that Warren Buffet–Berkshire Hathaway (synonymously used here)–has put Dairy Queens in China. “Bygod, that’s all I need.” Reportedly, the Green Tea Blizzard is best selling. I wonder what their alcohol laws are … I’ll need two jiggers in my blizzard to keep me slizzardddd …

And to fight the hangover, I could venture to the nearest Walmart, which may assist in sweating out the alcohol and burning off calories, to pick up some BC powder. You think they got BC powder in China? Or something better? “Bygod, that’s all I’ll need.”

This Black Girl Can’t Dance—”Watch The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl ” Youtube Series

Have you found a way to relate to Issa Rae’s The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl Youtube Series? I have. As you know, I cannot dance, and this episode was made for my non-dancing … Furthermore, she gets a little bougie about house parties. There, I cannot relate. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it is at a house party where you can get off with doing less … on the dancefloor. Watch and laugh.

“They Got a Lincoln Town Car …” Jermaine Dupri Talks Janky Promoters #CIAA

Jermaine Dupri talks janky promoters in Charlotte, a #CIAA event that was planned but did NOT happen. This -ish is hilarious. I know I’m supposed to be nice especially because it’s Sunday. But I can’t help it. I’m posting. I even found this so-called “ted” on FB. I didn’t post his URL, you can GOOGLE and put 2 and 2 together. Here’s a good laugh and an ode to #CIAA 2012.

Head Replays–”Will Someone Turn this Music Off?!”

Do you tend to hear the last song you’ve listened to replay in your head over and over again throughout the day? Like for instance, that last song Power 98 played just before you turned off your car … and during work, at a friend’s, at happy hour, you can just hear these lyrics haunting you … Notably, you can find appropriate placement for these lyrics in any conversation … talk about humor. Just imagine hearing “Girls Like You” replay as your best homeboy complains about his ole’ lady. And he wonders why he never gets to that next step. PAUSE. Anywho, I say all that to share with you famous head replays that get me through difficult conversations, annoying people, and humorous times. Hope you like. Paint your own picture at your discretion.

1. “Birthday Cake” No remix needed. Rihanna chants enough naughty lyrics to help me narrow down why you’re really talking to me right now. PAUSE.

2. “Thinking About You.” Have you heard Willow’s version? Her runs are everything.

3. “Rack City” I blame it on Power 98 because they play it so much. “10, 10, 10, 20s, and a 50s …” Stripper songs are downright distasteful. But this one’s too catchy for my own good. Oh well.

4. “Strip” Another relic of Breezy. This stripper song, on the contraire, is playful on all levels. The video makes all the difference. Ahhh Chris with his blonde hair. Moments of pleasure.

5. “Nobody’s Perfect” J Cole’s “cheese eggs and potatoes” line gets me going. #Fatgirl Vibes. “We rock the boat, Poseidon” <–nice Greek God reference. I likes. Furthermore, this is the new age of conscious rappers where they retain material swag yet spit lyrics that really matter, ones that call your self-governing rules into question. More about that later.

6. "Ambition" by Wale because drive is what some strive for … and what others just have. Love the lyric videos. Now I have no excuse. Wale at the Fillmore in NC this coming week #CIAA.

7. "Take Care" Drake and Rihanna house sampling keeps the party poppin'.

8. "It All Belongs to Me" by Monica and Brandy. If it's Nikkipanache's, it ALL belongs to me.

9. "Over My Dead Body" Drake. You gotta sing out, ring out your disappointments in love. When everything seems to be an illusion, a beautiful lie, and when perfect seems to have a time constraint, Drake comes to save the day. That's why we love 'em.

10. "Think Like a Man" Jennifer Hudson, Rick Ross and Ne-Yo This is so big city like. When I'm missing Jersey, this works. We're-going-through-the-tunnel-tunes. Do you see the bright lights?

Nonetheless, there's much humor and reality in most songs we listen to. Sure they minister to our spirits … realities we live and will continue to live each and every day. Can you think of head replay song or lyric? Share them with me.
