DNG, Esq. Begins #Lawyering Soon

It's been over a month since I last blogged. Since then, the process in becoming certified by DC Courts for the July swearing-in ceremony, being sworn-in, getting invited to DC Bar to pay dues and take mandatory class has all been a whole a%^ process. It's a definite waiting game, at best. I'm just waiting for the ink to dry ... for the paint to dry ... for stamps ... to dry.

Nonetheless, I've been plotting my next moves. While earning credits towards my Juris Doctor, I participated in the Entrepreneurship Clinic and spent 9 months in helping small to medium sized businesses create confidentiality agreements, memorandum of understanding, consignment contracts most favorable terms, form business entities through formal filings with the state, obtain permits and licenses necessary for use and filed trademark applications with the USPTO. I managed up to 14 clients. It was the most rewarding work I've done. I'm grateful for the experience, and I feel passionate about building businesses and helping them flourish. Further, I intend to begin some trademark and copyright work after establishing a law firm here in NC, limiting the practice to these areas of law, since federal law can be practiced in any US jurisdictions.

Additionally, I've had the opportunity to perform title searches with a medium sized law firm in NC. So I'm also interested in performing residential closings in each jurisdiction in which I'm licensed.

For now, I'm mapping next steps, revamping (which seems to have been a constant in the past 9 months) and rebranding. So much has occurred.

While I'm no longer podcasting, I'm looking to begin anew soon. I'm interested in working with lawyers and non-lawyers. I'm open to new ideas yet I have a skeleton for a format sitting on ice. So shoot your shot.

I suspect the next 90 days will be filled with an abundance of opportunities, rewarding legal experience and abundance of wisdom. I'll keep you posted.
